This tourism tax was introduced on December 23rd, 2022. Besides the state government, Travelkore is the only authorized platform for payment. The tax can be paid either before you arrive or before you leave the state. VISITAX is not included in any airfare or resort/hotel fees. Although travel providers are responsible for informing travelers about the tax, it is ultimately the travelers' responsibility to pay it

VISITAX agents are now stationed in all terminals at Cancun airport arrivals, located in the secure area just before customs. They are easily identifiable, and if they approach you, it is MANDATORY TO STOP. Here is what they look like:

VISITAX is the brand name for a mandatory tourist tax that was introduced in late December 2022. A Digital VISITAX QR code must be purchased prior to leaving the state by land, air and train.
Travelkore is the official VISITAX Payment system for Quintana Roo State. Travelkore manages all aspects of VISITAX including payment, QR code issuance and customer service.
SATQ is the state tax authority responsible for VISITAX and the enforcement of it. SATQ sets the price for the tax which changes each year on February 1st.
This is a VISITAX QR code. It contains many features to ensure data privacy for your personal details. Your VISITAX QR code is digitally tracked and if you scan the code you will be able to check the validity of your code to ensure its authenticity. The barcode on the left corner is for enforcement purposes only.

You MUST obtain a VISITAX QR code BY LAW PRIOR to leaving Quintana Roo State.
You will receive your QR code immediately via email. Please check your spam or junk folders if it doesn't appear in your inbox.
To verify the validity of your QR code and confirm your entered arrival and departure dates correctly, simply scan the QR code with any smartphone camera.
Travel providers, including resorts, hotels, accommodation hosts, airlines, and online travel agents, have a duty of care to disclose any important details about your trip. Some are now ensuring that you are notified about the requirement to pay VISITAX before leaving the state. Failure to pay VISITAX can cause inconvenience at the end of your vacation, so make sure to handle it before arriving at the airport for your departure.
