New VISITAX Signage and Graphics Unveiled – Effective May 9th, 2024!
On May 9th, 2024, the state approved Travelkore to reduce the price of VISITAX, aligning it with the direct cost from the state. Additionally, the state has authorized the use of its emblems and wording on new signage and graphics. These graphics aim to eliminate any confusion regarding the requirement to pay VISITAX before leaving the state. The new signage is now being distributed to local businesses, hotels, and resorts, which must comply with Quintana Roo's tourism laws. These laws empower the state to enforce registration and levy penalties for non-registration.
Tourism service providers, including Airbnb hosts, in the state are required to register by May 24th, 2024, or face sanctions and penalties. The purpose of the law is to enhance tourist rights for safety and ensure the professional delivery of paid services. Another major objective is to prevent the exploitation of children and adolescents for sex and drug trafficking.
